Yekaterina "Katy" Chernova 59, of Hamden died June 4th at Yale New Haven Hospital's St. Raphael Campus after a long illness. Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine she was the loving daughter of Galyna and the late Anatol Mishchenko. Katy worked at Yale in the Sterling Memorial Library as an assistant librarian. She was an avid painter, enjoyed reading, and had an overall love for art. She was well versed in 19th & 20th century Russian and European Literature. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter Yelizaveta Chernova of Norwalk. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service FRIDAY June 9th at 12 p.m. in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 10:30 - 12 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
