Walter S. Wasilewski, Jr., 62, of New Haven, died July 21, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving and caring husband of Charlene Dest Wasilewski. Walter was born in New Haven, Oct. 6, 1950, the son of the late Walter and Adeline Blee Wasilewski. He was a New Haven University graduate, an educator at St. Rita's School in Hamden, principal of St. Bernadette's School in New Haven and an emergency room coordinator at St. Raphael's Hospital for the last 33 years. In addition, he was an EMT for American Medical Response of New Haven. Walter enjoyed working on his model railroad, collecting coins, gardening, traveling, especially to San Jose del Cabo, and spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the Army Reserve and was one of the last soldiers to be trained to operate a steam locomotive. Walter always put Charlene's needs before his own. He will be greatly missed by his friends and co-workers at St. Raphael's Hospital. Beside his wife, he leaves two daughters, Natalie Geigle and husband John of Stratford and Alexia T.Krane and husband Sean of Southington, his grandchildren, Philomena and Zoe Krane, Alexander Wasilewski, Brendan Shields and Kiernan and Aedan Geigle. Walter was the brother of Carol Ferraro (Joseph) of Guilford, Lynn Busch (Ed) of North Branford and Robert Wasilewski (Kelly) of Middletown, many nieces and nephews and his cat, Kokie. Funeral Friday at 9:00 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Mary's Church, Branford, at 10 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.
