Obituary

Vincent V. Grignano known to his family and friends as Jimmy, of Hamden , died peacefully on March 11 at CT Hospice with his sons by his side. Born in New Haven, on February 14, 1938, son of the late Joseph Grignano and Mary LoStritto Grignano, devoted and beloved husband of the late Lucy D'Agostino Grignano, beloved father of David and his wife Kathleen of Downington, PA., beloved father of Michael and his wife Alisa of Fairfield, Loving grandfather to Nicholas, Salvatore, Kayla, Zachary, Ava and Dominic. Brother of Joseph Grignano of San Diego, CA. Mary Ann Moorcroft of New Haven and Linda (James)Gambardella of North Haven. Vince is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles stateside as well as in Italy, and many devoted friends. Vince was communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Vince graduated from Providence College in 1960 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude in Accounting. Upon graduation he worked as an auditor Touche, Ross, and Smart in New York City. He then served in the U.S. Army for three years; as a finance specialist for the U.S. Army Pacific Intelligence School in Okinawa and received letters of commendation. At Fort Holabird, Maryland he served as Cost Coordinator for Secretary McNamara's Cost Reduction Program. Upon completion of his military service, Vince worked for the Consumer Products Division of Uniroyal Corp. in Naugatuck, for sixteen years as a Cost Accountant, Director of Financial Services and Budgets, and Controller. He ended his professional career at Amity Regional School District Number Five as a Director of Financial Services. During his nineteen years he dedicated himself to the faculty and students. Vince was a dedicated father who was always there for his family. He most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking, oil painting, gardening, travel, music, singing and spending time with his friends. A special thank you to all the nurses from St. Raphael, the Hoot Center and Connecticut Hospice who helped care for him. He will be missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday March 17 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hamden. Entombment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-7 at The Peter H.Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden. In lieu of flowers contributions to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford,CT 06405.
