Obituary

Vincent D. Colonna, 81 of Hamden, passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2024.  Vinny, as he was known to all, was born in New Haven, CT to the late Domenic & Lena Piscitelli Colonna. He attended Hamden High School and graduated in 1960.  After graduating Quinnipiac College, he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Bartolotta, and this past year they celebrated 54 years of marriage.  He was an insurance agent in Hamden and was President of Colonna Insurance Services, LLC for 44 years.  Over the past 2 years, Vinny had merged his business with Ferguson & McGuire, Inc. in Wallingford and was still working in the business he loved.  Vinny was also past president of the UNITAS Club in Hamden and chairman of his high school reunion committee for Hamden High. Vinny was past board chairman at Charlton Hill Condo Association.  He also served in various capacities volunteering his time to St. Aedan's Church & School in New Haven and St. Ann's Church in Hamden which he was the parish center manager, on their finance committee and a Eucharistic Minister. He was a life-long member of Light of Christ Community and had participated in weekly prayer services on Saturday mornings for 43 years.  He shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met and we will be forever grateful for the man he was in all our lives. Vinny was a loving husband, father, brother and son.  Vinny is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann of Hamden; his children: Andrea Evans (Richard), Tania Beck (Glenn), Jeffrey Colonna (Corey)  and daughter-in-law, Lisa Colonna. Vinny was predeceased by his son, Vincent D. Colonna, Jr. Vinny is also survived by his sister, Linda Baroncini (Edward), sister-in-law Rose Marie Maragni, and brother-in-law Christopher Bartolotta (Maryann). Vinny loved his grandchildren to the moon and back – Matthew (Samantha), Nicholas, Mikey & Marissa Colonna, Mary, Kimmie & Tania Evans, Julia, DJ & Emily Colonna, and Raphe, Cheyenne, Mary Beck & Hannah DiDonato. Vinny is also survived by his nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and cherished friends.  Vinny was predeceased by his son and parents. Calling hours will be held Friday, February 16th from 4-7pm in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell ave., Hamden.  Friends are asked to go directly to Blessed Sacrament Church in Hamden Saturday, February 17th at 10 am for a Mass of Christian burial. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. If you wish to remember Vinny, contributions can be made to the Vincent D.
