Velia Navaretta Altieri, 87, of 10 Hard St., formerly of Legion Ave., New Haven, died Aug. 2, 2011 at the Sr. Anne Grimes Center. She was the wife of the late Carmen Altieri. Veglia was born in San Lorenzello, Italy, the daughter of the late Rocco and Josephine Navaretta, and resided in New Haven most of her life. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Joan Ann Altieri, a sister Maria and a brother Pasquale Navaretta, and was the sister in law of Orlando and Marie Altieri, Enes and Joseph Amodeo and the late Enrico Altieri, Alphonse Altieri Jr., and Mary Gauthier, Aunt of Louis Gauthier, Marianne Murphy, Ann Miller, Linda Abate, John Amodeo, Richard Altieri, Arthur Gathier, Lori-Jean Blanchette and Gary Altieri, cousin of Pasquale and John Porto and the late MaryGrace Cucciniello. Funeral Friday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Anthony's Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
