Theresa Strona Dapkin, 90, of 372 Denslow Hill Rd. Hamden, died peacefully, Sept. 24, 2012 at Conn. Hospice. She was the wife of the late Joseph Dapkin Sr. Terri was born in Hamden, Aug. 16, 1922, the daughter of the late Francesco and Carmela Amilia Strona and resided in Hamden most of her life. She trained as a registered nurse in Hartford Hospital and upon graduation joined the U.S.Army Nurse Corp, serving in he European Theather of Operation. She recieved the European Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Meritorious Service Unit Award. She worked as a nurse for Marlin Firearms in New Haven, for many years. She was a longtime parishioner of Ascension Church and will always be remembered for her generosity,sense of humor and great love for her family and friends. She is survived by her sons Andrew Dapkin (Carol Cavalieri) of Wallingford and Joseph Dapkin Jr. (Heidi) Rubertone of Hamden, a grandson Andrew Dapkin, Jr. a sister, Vivian Oneto, a sisters-in-law Marie Strona and Helen Strona a brother in law, Anthony Butkus as well as many loving nieces & nephews and life long friends, as well as her compassionate caregivers, Gedalyn Brown, Vincella Simpson and Darylann Hinton. She was pre-deceased by her beloved sisters, Lucy DelVecchio and Lorraine Butkus and brothers Dominic Strona and Frank (Sonny) Strona. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 dixwell Ave., Hamden and at the Church of the Ascension at 10 o'clock. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M.
