Shirley M Harriett, 93, of 132 Evergreen Rd., Edison, N.J., died there Aug. 10, 2014. She was the widow of Orville Harriett. Shirley was born in New Haven, Nov. 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Hurwitz and was an Army nurse, serving during WWII. After the war she worked at the New Haven Hospitals as well as local convalescent homes, prior to retiring. She resided in New Haven for 60 years prior to moving to New Jersey, ten years ago. She is survived by her children, Jack (Muyang) Harriett of Bridgewater, NJ and Linda Weady of CA, grandchildren, Peter and Jennifer and three great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Ellen and Dorothy. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home ,1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden.
