Shirley
Dimeo
January 6, 1932 – August 25, 2024
Shirley DiMeo, 92 of Derby died peacefully August 25th at Bishop Wicke Health & Rehab. of Shelton. Born in New Haven, daughter of the late Andrew & Rose Belmore Scott, Shirley loved vacationing at the Jersey shore, Cape Cod and Ogunquit, Maine. Her favorite trip was to the casinos with friends and family, with a stop for dinner at the Chowder Pot. She loved to bake and spent many hours making wonderful cookies for and with her grandchildren. The UConn Huskie Women's basketball team will miss one of their biggest fans. Shirley graduated from Hamden High School where she made lifelong friends. They were all such wonderful friends to each other, raising their children, balancing life and careers, but always finding time for "just the girls". They call themselves "The Lunch Bunch". Shirley was predeceased by her brothers, Red and Scotty, her son James DiMeo, son in law Thomas Kelly and great grandson Zaid Nesheiwat. She is survived by her children, Denise Kelly (Brett Kippur), Catherine Craige (Sandy), and Lucien DiMeo (Susan) with whom she lived. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Nesheiwat (Sharif), Caitlin Pinard (John Markus), Daisy Koltov (Michael), Nicole Harelik (Justin), Lucien Dimeo (Sarah), Amanda Matthewson (Craige), David Craige, Rose Cromer (Toby), James DiMeo (Becky) and William DiMeo. One of Shirley's greatest joys were her 18 great grandchildren children, Laith, Noura and Rooks Nesheiwat, Addison, Cooper and Sebastian Pinard, Claire, Simon and Penelope Koltov, Nina Harelik, Lucy and Olivia DiMeo, Leila and Jacob Matthewson, Rose and Lily Craige, Scarlett and Grayson DiMeo. She is also survived by her loving niece and nephew, Martha and Dennis Savage. Calling hours will be held Tuesday September 3rd from 8:30 - 10:30am in the Peter H.
