Salvatore A. Petrone, 83, of 75 Washington Ave., Hamden, died suddenly on October 16th. He was the husband of Ruth Sweeney Petrone. Born in Hamden, the son of the late Salvatore & Marguerite Petrone, he worked as a math teacher and golf coach at Hamden High School. He also coached the Hamden Plainsmen and was a member of the New Haven Ski Club. Sal graduated from Wesleyan Univ. and received his Masters and Sixth Year from Columbia. He was a WWII Air Force veteran. In addition to his wife, Sal is survived by a son Guy (Amy) Petrone of Rochester N.Y, a daughter Linda (Rob) Peters of Hudson, N.H, sisters Adelene & Ceil Petrone of Hamden, and grandchildren Jake,Ryan,and Nolan Petrone& Zachary and Brianna Peters. He was predeceased by sisters Amelia, Matilda and Angela Petrone,& Marguerite Abate. Funeral services Wednesday,10:15 from the Peter H.Torello & Son F.H, 1022 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, and 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hamden. burial in Centerville cemetery.
