Salvatore Cusano, 88, of Hamden, died June 5, 2018 at The Smilow Center. He was the husband of the late Apollonia(Dolores) Rossetti Cusano. Sal was born in Alvignanello, Italy, May 17, 1930, son of the late Paolo and Anastasia Cusano and came to the US in 1964, residing in Hamden most of his life. He was a mason and machinist at Plasticrete, Platt and LaBonia, Marlin Firearms and Camco Fittings, prior to retiring. He enjoyed, gardening, making wine, cooking and canning and being with his devoted family. He is survived by his sons, Paul (Lisa) Cusano of Trumbull and John (Mary) Cusano of Cheshire, a dear friend, Mary Jane O'Day, sisters, Rosa Conte and Giuseppina Giano, both in Italy and loving grandchildren, Elise, Alexandra (Brent), Isabella, Andrew and Eric. He was pre-deceased by a son, Vincent Cusano and siblings, Antonio Cusano and Giovanna Cusano. Funeral Saturday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, and a Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
