Rose Merola Cordano, 93, of 25 Stone Ridge Lane, Branford, died at Yale New Haven Hospital, Jan.. 11, 2015 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Joseph Cordano. Rose was born in Hamden, May 26, 1921, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Giovaninna Merola and was a teachers aide for the New Haven School System for 20 years prior to retiring. She enjoyed playing bingo, bridge and going to the casino. She was a member fo Our Lady of Pompeii Ladies Guild. She is survived by her children, Jean Cordano of East Haven, Mario T. Cordano of SC and Joseph Cordano Jr. of Scotland, Ct.,a sister, Florence Rowan of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, David (Trang) and Jason (Kimberly) Gay and Jonathan and Michele Cordano and 5 great -grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Mary Constantinople, Anne Capone, Angie Votto, Margaret Iadorola, Dorothy Guadano, Nicholas, Dominic and Patrick Merola. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.
