Robert E. Weidig, 48, of Litchfield Turnpike, Bethany, died suddenly at Yale New Haven Hospital, April 17, 2015. A lifelong resident of Bethany, he was born in New Haven, Jan.12, 1967, son of Charles Weidig of Springfield, MA and the late Elizabeth MacDiarmid Weidig and was a landscaper in the Bethany area for over 30 years. He volunteered his time at the Special Olympics as well as many community endeavors and was always ready to help out anyone in need. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Bethany Volunteer Ambulance Assn.. He was a devoted father to Robert Weidig Jr., step father to Douglas Walker, both of Bethany, brother of Roger Weidig of Surfside Beach, SC. He is also survived by his former wife, Cindy Weidig of Bethany. He was pre-deceased by sisters, Wendy Poisson and Lynne Ellen Weidig. Friends are invited to a graveside services, Wednesday at 11:30 in Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven, conducted by the Rev. Elsa Worth, Christ Episcopal Church, Bethany. The Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 
