IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Peter
Marino
November 1, 1954 – April 17, 2023
With extreme sadness and obedience to God, we as a family would like to announce that Robert Peter Marino, 68, passed on into glory on the morning of April 17, 2023 in the arms of his wife, Doris Marino (nee Mclittle). They had been married for 33 years. Robert was born in Rockefeller Center, Long Island in New York on November 1, 1954 to Alice Barbara (nee Olson) Marino and Francis Paul Marino. Robert was the younger of two children and grew up most of his earlier years on Long Island where he attended college obtaining an M.S. and B.A. in Biology from Adelphi University. With a love for reading, learning and education, he went on to earn an M.S. in Anatomy and Cell Biology as well as a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan. Robert had a heart full of love and shared it with any and everyone who had the fortune of crossing his path. His large heart also saw him mentoring scores of people with whom he showed what selflessness would look like clothed in flesh. He also had a voracious reading appetite and would never be found too far from a paperback, as his floor to ceiling book collection in his office would attest to. Robert was also an avid teacher going beyond technical details to teaching the very deep things of life and the very essence of being human. He was also a pro in the kitchen and made the best omelet's to which he confessed to his secret ingredient being his little pinky finger in the mix. In fact, he really impressed himself by his signature pot roast, which he prepared as the last meal he shared with his wife the night before his passing. He sought Gods face daily, he loved everyone as Jesus loved us and he boldly was living the gospel, giving God all the glory and all the problems as they came to him. Grandpa Bob was truly the embodiment of Gods grace. He truly loved every person individually. No matter what the situation was he always believed that the positive would always overcome the negative. His strong faith and belief in this meant he was always gentle and caring, helping others realize things can be negative but love always wins in the end. He was such a unique and beautiful person with a soul of gold. Calling hours will be held SUNDAY April 30th from 3 - 5 P.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Friends are asked to go directly to Our lady of Mt. Carmel Church MONDAY May 1st at 10:30 A.M. for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private.
