On Monday March 6,2023, Rita L. Votto of New Haven CT passed away at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her parents Nicola & Filomena Casbarra Votto, her brothers Louis and Ernest and her nephew Laurence. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Richard, Susan, Michelle, Louis and Paul and her grand nieces and nephews. Rita worked for years as secretary to the president of Berger Brothers in New Haven and finished her secretarial career at St Raphaels Hospital where she worked in the staff development -Nursing Education department. She took pride in her work and made many friends along the way. In her younger years she took many road trips with friends all over New England and Nova Scotia. She often traveled to Florida to visit her nieces and nephews and to the Pittsburgh area to visit relatives and the Philadelphia area to visit her niece and great nieces. One of her favorite destinations was to travel to Vermont to her nephew, Rich's house.  She loved spending time with family and enjoyed hearing about their skiing adventures. Rita was always very active in her parish, St, Ann Catholic Church in Hamden and after retirement she ran the senior Young at Heart Club for several years. Rita always enjoyed playing cards and board games and could beat just about anyone in Scrabble. She was affectionately called the "Queen" for her resemblance to Queen Elizabeth and her famous royal wave.  Friends & relatives are invited to call at the Peter H. Torello & Son FH in Hamden, from 8:30-10:30 on TUESDAY followed by a funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hamden CT at 11am. Interment in Beaverdale.
