Obituary

Richard F Stevenson, 77 of Durham died at home October 31st after a long illness. Born in New Haven, son of the late Foster & Margaret Nolan Stevenson, Rich proudly worked as a New Haven Firefighter driving Engine 11 for many years. He served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He loved his 2 dogs Gunner and Rocky, He enjoyed boating, playing cards, and having family parties at his house. He loved watching sports, Yankees baseball was a must watch, and football was a close second. He enjoyed simple pleasures like mowing his lawn and gardening. In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by a sister Carol Kilcoyne. Richard was survived by his two children, son Richard Stevenson Jr (Jen Fontanella) and daughter Tara Lyons (Dave) He was also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Joseph Stevenson, Savannah Stevenson, David Lyons, Gage Stevenson and Emma Lyons. Calling hours will be held Saturday November 8th from 9 - 10:30 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home,1022 Dixwell ave., Hamden. A service will be held at 10:30 am in the same location. Interment with full military honors will follow in Centerville Cemetery.
