Rebecca Culbert Hecker, 94, of the Hamden Health Care Center, peacefully passed away there, Oct. 26, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Morris Hecker. Rebecca was born in New York City, Dec. 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Patrick & Catherine Byrne Culbert and was formerly a secretary at her Husband's store, Newburgh Spring Bed Co. She was the beloved mother of Marilyn (Fred) D'Ambrose of Hamden and Marvin (Sheila) Hecker of Chesterfield, VA, grandmother of Lisa (James) Bennett of Trumbull, Sherry (Paul) Intravia, Scott (Whitney) Hecker, both of VA. as well as nine great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her loving grandaughter Donna D'Ambrose Festa (Pat). A private graveside service will be held in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may visit Friday from 1 to 5 P.M. at the home of Marilyn and Fred D'Ambrose, 41 Post Falls Lane, Hamden, Ct. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at Hamden Health Care for the kind, loving and compassionate care shown to Rebecca during her 12 year stay, and especially during the last days of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Memory of Rebecca and in honor of her beloved grandaughter, Donna D'Ambrose Festa.
