Raymond Pasquale Parcella, Sr.,89, a lifelong resident of Hamden, passed away May 30, 2011. Ray was born in Hamden, Sept. 13, 1921, the son of the late Frank and Philomena Gaetano Parcella and proudly served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant during WWII, as a navagator and a bombardier. He earned a Associates Degree from New Haven College,(Univ. of New Haven) under the GI Bill and worked as a draftsman and engineer for the Winchester Western Div. of Olin Corp. He was the senior contract administrator between the Olin Corp. and the Federal Government, retiring after 41 years, as one of their top executives. He was proud of his affiliation with the Knights of Cllumbus of New Haven and was an integral member for many years. Ray bowled in Duckpin leagues for more than 60 years, enjoyed golfing with his friends and was an avid gardener. His life centered around his family and he was a dedicated husband,father,grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Louise(Arcara)Parcella of 65 years, four children including two sons and two daughters, Raymond Jr.(Ann)Parcella of Wallingford, Mrs. Salvatore(Valerie)Ciarleglio of Queens Creek, AZ, Deborah (Parcella) Fazekas of Annadale, NJ and Robert(Cheryl)Parcella of Hamden, Eight grandchildren; Kenneth, Kyle,Anthony,Gary, Steven, Katherine, Michael, and Bradley and four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Natalie, Amelia and Aaron. Ray is survived a brother, Edward(Delores)Parcella. Funeral Saturday, with military honors, at 9:15 from the Peter H.Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.
