Mrs. Raffaela Giordano, 92 years old formerly of Hamden and Cheshire passed away peacefully with her family by her side August 17th at Matulaitis Nursing Home of Putnam. Raffaela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dominic Giordano, and her son, Anthony Giordano. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Giulietti, and her son-in-law, Robert Giulietti of Virginia. She was a cherished grandmother to Stefanie and her husband, Adam, and her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Parker; Amanda and her husband, Cameron, and her great-granddaughter, Autumn; Deanna and her fiancé, Chase; and Anthony Giordano . Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she treasured the time she spent with them. Raffaela is also survived by her sister, Immaculata “Micki” Bernardo and family and pre deceased by her sister Madeline Ruggiero, and her brother, Freddy D’Amato and their families. Raffaela was a deeply religious woman whose faith was an important part of her life. She attended Mass daily for many years finding strength, peace, and comfort in her devotion. In her later years, Raffaela lived with dementia and received loving care at Matulaitis Nursing Home. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion they showed Raffaela over the years. She was very happy there and was lovingly cared for. Her family will always be grateful for the wonderful people who became part of her life there. Raffaela will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and love with them always. Calling hours will be held Saturday August 22nd from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, followed by a parlor service at 10:30 in the same location.
