Rachel Paolillo Palmieri, 102, formerly of Beaver St., Hamden, died peacefully, June 22, 2013 at Hamden Health Care. She was the widow of Michael Palmieri. Rae was born in Amalfi, Italy, April 6, 1911, the daughter of the late Alphonso and Theresa Rosarb Paolillo and resided in Hamden most of her life. She was active in St.Anns Church, a longtime member of the altar care society, a member of the St Rita Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart and Notre Dame Academy Mother's Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and did beautiful needle work, showering her children and grandchildren with many knitted gifts. She is surived by a son, Peter ( Patricia) Palmieri, Sr. of Hamden a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Theresa) Glynn of Schamburg, IL a sister, Edith Acampora of East Haven grandchildren, Triscia, Michael, Peter Jr., Gregory, Raschelle and Susan, 9 great-grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. She was pre-deceased by siblings Viola Proto, Armand, Orlando and Pasquale Paolillo. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Mausoleum. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.m.
