Philip Raccio, 99, passed away Mar 29,2010 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Jennie Civitelli Raccio. Phil was born in New Haven, Oct. 14, 1910, the son of the late Antonio & Marianna Barone Raccio and had resided in Bethany prior to moving to Ft. Lauderdale in 1978. He was a mechanic for S.N.E.T., worked for Barone Concrete and served in the Conn. National Guard in 1939.He retired from SNET in June of 1973 with 29 years of service and was a lifetime member of AT & T Pioneers. He is survived by a son Philip J. Raccio ( Rosemary) of West Haven, a daughter Carol J. Raccio of Fl. 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Theresa Petrillo of Madison. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Patricia Mascia, sisters, Jennie Landino and Rita Fappiano and brothers, Joseph & Pasquale Raccio. Friends may call Wednessday Apr. 7, from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. On Thursday, friends may go directly to St. Ann's Church at 10 o'clock, followed by interment in Beaverdale Mem. Park. Phil was a tower of strength. He loved life, children, gardening and horses.
