Philip Costanzo 83 of Cheshire, formerly of Hamden died November 8th at Skyview Rehab Center after a brief illness. Born in New Haven, son of the late Jerome & Phyllis Cricco Costanzo, Phil owned and operated The Hamden Press Printing Company for over 20 years. He graduated from Hamden High where he played football. He was the fastest one on the team, scoring a 70-yard rushing touchdown in his senior year. Phil was a patient man who put others before himself. He enjoyed coaching baseball, taking trips to Las Vegas, and driving his Ford Mustang. He loved his children, grandchildren, and his cats. He is survived by sons Ralph Costanzo of Prospect, Philip Jr. (Kristy) Costanzo of Cheshire, and their mother Karen Santa Maria of Cheshire, a brother Robert (Sandi) Costanzo of North Haven, and grandchildren Ruthie, Vincent, Calisa, Gabriella, and Gianna. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Ralph & Jerome Jr., and a sister Eunice Moreira. Calling hours will be held Thursday November 13th from 9:00 - 10:30 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. A parlor service will be held at 10:30 in the same location. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
