Olimpia Mercurio Carusone, 70, of 755 Mix Ave., Hamden, formerly of Third St. Hamden, died at St. Raphael's Hospital, March 13, 2011, after a brief illnss. She was the wife of the late Luigi Carusone. Olimpia was born in S. Maria C.V., Provence of Caserta, Italy, Aug. 21, 1940, the daughter of ther late Vincenzo and Maria DellaValle Mercurio and came from Italy to Hamden in 1972. She was employed at Henry Richards Co., Starter Sportswear, Strouse Adler and Lanc Int., prior to her retirement.She was devoted to her family, her church and to her many friends and enjoyed to cook. She is survived by a daughter, Cristina Carusone Biceglia of Hamden, a sister Maria Mercurio of Italy and grandchildren, Donato Biceglia II and Annalisa Biceglia. She was pre-deceased by siblings Anna and Gennaro Mercurio. Funeral Thursday at 10:15 from thePeter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11 o'clock. Entombment in All Saints Mausoleum. Friends may call Thursday morning from 8:15 to 10:15.
