IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Ann
Torello
December 28, 1940 – December 14, 2020
Nancy Ann (Fiak) Torello (December 28, 1940-December 14 ,2020) passed peacefully at her Cheshire home of 46 years in the company of her loving family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was unwavering in her attention to their support and welfare to the end. Unselfishly, she extended that love and devotion to her 3 younger sisters, Renee, Eve and Pamela, as well as her two brothers, John and Roger who predeceased her, and their children, as well as her brother-in-law Alex and sister-in-law Betsy who graciously, shared their children and grandchildren as if they were her own. Born in New Haven to John and Wanda (Yasensky) Fiak, she attended St Aedens Parochial School and graduated Hillhouse High School before starting a career spanning many years of service in business, government, education support, and gracious customer service, only interrupted by her everlasting support of her loving husband John of 55 years, and her 2 children, son John Alexander (Mary) and daughter Krista Eve. Her two grandchildren, fraternal twins Jack and Sophia were the lights of her life, whom she delighted in their love and nurturing to no end. She enthusiastically adopted all the extended families and quickly became a favorite due to her genuine concern and empathy to all she encountered in life, especially children, for whom she passionately supported through her love of literacy and early education and care. She was especially proud of her love of the arts and education by being instrumental in working with the New Haven and Cheshire school systems for early literacy and Nature's Classroom programs, support of Connecticut Ballet, as well as producing Shakespeare in the Park performances for the community. Always one who offered help to all, whether needed or not, she was grateful to all her employers and co-workers whom she considered lifelong friends. Her early employment included Winchester, Wooster Square and Dwight Redevelopment Project Offices before taking on family responsibilities. Her later associations were equally rewarding at Pond Technical Sales and Cheshire Physical Therapy, and in recent years with retailers Villarina's, Talbots, Denali and Arethusa, culminated by her service to the Cheshire YMCA and Highland School pre-school children's care program where she emphasized reading and personal care. Gourmet cooking and flowers were always a part of her life, and her love of music and the arts sustained her to the end through the love and care of loving daughter and best friend Krista at her side to celebrate an early Christmas and birthday for her final memories. The family extends its grateful appreciation for the outpouring of sympathy and love. Arrangements are being made through the Peter H.Torello & Son Funeral Home, Inc. @ www.Torellofh.com who will plan a Memorial Service at a future time in lieu of calling hours.
