Michael S. "chink" Novella, 78, of Hamden, died at Yale New Haven Hospital, Oct. 8, 2017 after a long illness. He was the husband of Joan Raccio Novella. Mike was born in New Haven, April 20, 1939, the son of the late Lawrence and Philomena Sullo Novella and resided in Hamden the last 55 years and had retired from the State DOT and Simpkins Dist. and was a proud member of the St. Andrew Apostle Society and the Gents of East Haven. He was a US Army Veteran. Beside his wife, he is survived by his children, Jodi Anne Novella, No. Palm Beach, Fl.( Palm Beach Shores PD), Michael (Danielle) Novella Jr., No. Bfd.. WHPD  and Lawrence Novella of Hamden, a sister, Rosalie DePalma of BFD. grandchildren, Joseph" JoeRap", Michael III and Tehya Novella, also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Lawrence "Butch" Novella. Funeral with military honors, Friday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Hamden and at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M.
