Obituary

Mary Canestri Violano, 94, of 210 Hume Dr., Hamden, died Feb. 16, 2010 at the Ha mden Health Care. She was the wife of the late Gerald J. Violano Sr. Mary was born in New Haven, Dec. 2, 1915, the daughter of the late Ceasar & Luisa Coppola Canestri and worked for many of her early years in the family bake shop, Canestri Pastry of Wooster St. She also worked at Howlands and Arthurs for many years. She is survvied by sons Caesar ( Shirley ) Viollano of Hamden and Gerald (Marion) Violano Jr. of Cheshire, sister of Luisa DeLauro of New Haven and Caesar ( Natalie) Canestri of FL.,and the late Carmela Canestri, Raffaela Amato and Louis Canestri. grandmother of Caesar M. ( Stella ) Violano of CA, James (Dawn) Violano of New Haven and Paul (Tara) Violano of Cheshire. Also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a greatgrandchild, Tiffany. Funeral Friday at 11 o'clock from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 12 noon. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Conn Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, Ct.
