Mary Jo Cohen (Lankswert), 79, of Guilford, CT passed away 12/7/23 after a long illness. She was born in Louisville, KY to the late Sylvester Lankswert and Catherine nee Potts. She attended St. Agnes School and Sacred Heart Academy before enrolling at the University of Louisville.  Fiercely independent, Mary Jo moved to New York City in 1964 to join Eastern Airlines, embarking on a 50-year career in the travel industry culminating with her owning Suburban Worldwide Travel Agency in Madison, CT and active participation in the CT branch of the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA). It was in NYC that she met Alan, her devoted husband of 56 years, while watching her beloved Louisville Men's Basketball team at a neighbor's apartment. They later resided in Yonkers, NY, Peekskill, NY, and Guilford CT (for 42 years), finally residing in Hamden, CT. Mary Jo loved to travel, cook, and go to the movies and theater. She loved anything "Louisville" including family, friends, and sports. She also enjoyed cheering on her NY Mets, NY Jets and Southern Connecticut Owls Women's soccer team. She leaves behind her loving husband, Alan, and her children Adam Cohen (Kristin) of North Haven, CT and Jennifer McClave (Norman) of Haverford, PA. She adored her grandchildren Cee and Sophie McClave, Braden and Tyler Cohen. She is survived by her sisters Carol Fust (Louisville) and Patricia Zimlich (Louisville), and brothers Robert Lankswert (Woodstock, GA) and William Lankswert (Louisville).
