Mary Julia Amarante Christina, 96, of Hamden, died Aug. 24, 2011 at St. Raphael Hospital. She was the wife of Anthony Christina. Mary was born in New Haven, Sept. 24, 1914, the daughter of the late Antonio and MariaGrazia Battipaglia Amarante snd was raised in Fair Haven, where she spent many years as a parishioner and member of the Altar Society at St.Donato's Church. Beside her husband, she is survived by her children, Anthony (Josephine) Christina of Sarasota, FL, Charlotte (Donald) Hull and Nancy (Vincent) DiLella, both of Hamden, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, MaryAnn Turner, an infant son, Joseph, a granddaughter, and siblings, Matthew, Salvatore, Joseph, Michael, Louis, Anthony and James Amarante, Teresa DeRuccio and Jean Fenton. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. There will be no calling hours. Peter H.
