IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn
Esposito
June 30, 1942 – August 19, 2024
Marilyn (Reilly) Esposito, born on June 30, 1942, from Hamden CT; passed away on August 19, 2024. A proud owner of Esposito's Pastry and S&M Delicatessen in Derby, Marilyn later enjoyed a fulfilling career in the Planning and Zoning Department with the Town of Hamden until her retirement. Marilyn was a vibrant individual, known for her culinary skills, especially her famous Congo squares, her one of a kind anginettes and "red soup." Her love for cooking was only matched by her passion for family. She delighted in hearing about her children's achievements and cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren; lovingly called Grammie, singing "I love you, a bushel and a peck" to them often. In her youth, Marilyn was a talented majorette, taking pride in her baton twirling prowess. She also had a love for bowling; once making headlines with her near-perfect score during team play. Marilyn also enjoyed overnight trips to the casino. Marilyn is preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen Esposito, her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Reilly, and her brothers, Joseph and Thomas Reilly. She is survived by her cherished children: Mark Esposito, Susan Mastroianni (Joel), Stephanie Bartocetti (Rick), Rebecca Cieplak (Michael), Stephen Esposito, and Mark Esposito Jr. She was a proud grandmother to Holly Dayton (Frank), Adam Bartocetti, Jack and Lily Mastroianni, Collin, Barrett and Delaney Cieplak, and Aubrey and Madison Dayton. Marilyn is survived by her adoring siblings; Elizabeth Pasquale (Phil), Margaret Pesticci (Duke), Sharron Reilly, Robert Reilly (Carol), William Reilly, Dennis Reilly (Joanne) and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Marilyn's warmth, laughter, silliness and culinary talents will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 - 6 pm in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden followed by a prayer service at 6 pm in the same location. Interment will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
