It is with with a sad heart that we acknowledge the passing of Marie Cangiano, 86, a loving mother, grandmother and friend who held a special place in all our lives. Marie was born in 1929 in New Haven and was the daughter of Italian immigrants Eufrasia(Carrie)and Bonaventura(Willie)DeLandra of Wooster St where she enjoyed a wonderful childhood surrounded by a loving family of brothers Rocco and Andrew DeLandra along with aunts who held a special place in her heart.
Marie was married in 1951 to Andrew Cangiano of New Haven and spent her first married years in England where she had her first child Sue. Her time in England was never forgotten as she passed on those memories to both her children and grand children at every chance she could.
Marie lived a long and fulfilled life in a comfortable home in East Haven that was her sanctuary till the end. She raised her two children Sue and Anthony in a loving environment with her husband of 59 years Andrew.
Marie worked for the American Supply Company of New Haven and after retiring enjoyed a special bond with her three grandchildren Nicholas, Anthony and Stephanie who were always by her side.
A devoted friend, she enjoyed time spent at lunches and parties with her closest confidants we fondly referred to as the Marie club.
We were all extremely fortunate and blessed to have such a person grace our lives. We will miss her smile, kind words and wisdom every day.
Marie is survived by daughter Sue(Nick)Scalia , son Anthony(Debbie)Cangiano, grandchildren Nicholas(Jacqueline)Scalia, Anthony Cangiano Jr, Stephanie(Kevin)Cangiano-Barry.
A mass will be held in Marie's honor at Saint Clare's Church in East Haven Tuesday, April 19, at 10am. Private interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.
A special thanks to both Doctor David Eillbott and Doctor Vincent Decola who held a special place in her heart and kept her with us over these many years.
