Maria A. Soto Peralta, 101 of New Haven died May 14th at Montowese Health & Rehabilitation Center of North Haven after a brief illness. Born in Vega Baja P.R, daughter of the late Juan Cancio Soto & Ignacia Peralta, Maria worked for many years as an assembler for Matlaw Inc. Maria enjoyed food and cooking, she was always singing or humming as she fed her cats, roosters, and hens. She loved spending time with her family reminiscing. She is survived by sons Felipe (Lillian) Cordero Jr., Paul Cordero, Fernando (Evelyn) Cordero, and Eduardo Cordero, daughters Blanca Iris Rodriguez, and Zoraida Cordero Torres, a brother Tito (Jackie) Melendez, and tons of nieces, nephews and grandkids. She was predeceased by sons Adalberto & Jaime Cordero, a brother Abraham Melendez, and sisters Aleja Echevarria, and Gloria & Asuncion Melendez. Calling hours will be held MONDAY May 20th from 10 - 11:30 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden followed by a parlor service at the same location at 11:30. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
