Margaret Joan (Cullinane) Hawco, 82, of Hamden CT, beloved wife of George P. Hawco entered into eternal rest on June 30, 2014. She was born in Boston, MA on March 8, 1932, the daughter of the late Bernard J. and Teresa A. (Freely) Cullinane. Her father died when she was a child and she spent her childhood years surrounded by her loving and caring extended family. Besides her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her loving children, Teresa Blais of Mandeville, LA; George B. Hawco and his wife Roberta of Fairfax, VA; Steven J. Hawco and his wife Carol of Windsor, CT; and Ellen M. Marinelli and her husband Gary of Columbia, CT. Her eight grandchildren; Christina, Sean, Christopher, Kevin, Nicholas, Ryan, Audrey and Lauren; brought her many joys which were accentuated by the birth of her first great grandchild, Christian. She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Jeanne M. Hawco and her brother Kevin Cullinane. After raising her family, Margaret followed her passion and dream and entered the academic world. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Southern Connecticut State College and both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Human Services from Southern New Hampshire University. Armed with this knowledge and her lifetime experiences, she became active in serving the needs of the elderly and other elderly care issues in the greater New Haven area. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30am , 321 Circular Ave, Hamden, CT. Burial will be at a future date at the convenience of the family.
