Margaret M. Scarpo DeMatteis, 97, of 560 Silver Sands Rd., East Haven, died Oct. 1, 2012 at St. Raphael's Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert DeMatteis. Margaret was born in New Haven, June 27, 1915, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Mendillo Scarpo and had resided in Hamden most of her life and in East Haven the last 20 years. She is survived by three devoted daughters, Mrs. Frank (Joanne) Benevento of Cheshire, Jacqueline Kasprzycki Stewart of Ringwood, NJ and Deborah Buonocore of New Haven. She also leaves behind 8 adoring grandchildren; Mrs. Glen (Dorinda) Bartletta, Janice Palmieri, Mrs. Stephen (Karen) Howe, Craig (Aleisa) Kasprzycki, Alicia Kasprzycki, Joseph (Maria) Buonocore III, Melissa Buonocore and Christopher (Diane) Buonocore and 5 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by brothers Harry and Frank Scarpo. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, Entombment in Beaverdale Mausoleum. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 10 to 12 AM.
