Luigi Mattei, 86, of 116 Kathrine Dr., Hamden, died at home, June 1, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Silvia Massaro Mattei. Luigi was born in Faicchio, Italy, Oct. 17, 1928, son of the late Giuseppe & Marianna Santillo Mattei and had worked for Blakeslee and Carbetta Construction companies for most of his life and Marlin Firearms Co. for 10 years prior to retiring. He enjoyed gardening, making wine and his family and friends. Beside his wife, he is survived by his children, MaryAnn DiGioia of Hamden and Joseph(Katherine)Mattei of North Atttleboro, MA. grandchildren, Michael DiGioia(Megan Kelsey), Louis DiGioia(Marissa Deblasio), Sergio DiGioia, Paul DiGioia, Luigi Mattei and Enzo Mattei, brother of Giovanni Mattei, Vincenzo Mattei, Teresa Palmieri and the late Carmella Landino and Antonio Mattei. Funeral Friday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 10 o'clock. Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 7 P.M.
