Lucille M. Ceruzzi formerly of Woodbridge and Orange, died peacefully on November 7, 2024 at Sturges Ridge of Fairfield days after celebrating her 98th birthday. She was the beloved wife of Louis Ceruzzi Sr. who predeceased her on October 31, 2013. They had a loving marriage for over 62 years and when Lou died a part of her went with him. She was also predeceased by her parents Mary and Pat Carlo and her eldest son, Louis Jr.
Lucille was a member of the Catholic Charity League and was involved in doing much charitable work. She was named chairperson of the T.L.C. group at St Raphael's Hospital, in New Haven, CT. She was a volunteer teacher of English to two children of Italian descent at Christopher Columbus School in New Haven. Lucille was enormously proud of the accomplishments of these two boys. One had recognition countrywide on an essay he wrote on "What It Means to be an American Citizen", this young man also became valedictorian of his high school graduating class.
At her husband's request she was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older and in school. At this time, she started her volunteer journey. She was the happiest when she spent time with her family and friends. She was a fabulous cook and baker who prepared all the holiday meals up until Lou Sr passed. Lucille entertained Lou's business clients throughout his career. They loved attending the Yale-Harvard games and catering to all their friends and business associates.
She leaves 3 children, Dr William Ceruzzi (Dr. Linda Ceruzzi) of Portsmouth, NH, Judith Ceruzzi Craig of Greenwich, CT, John Ceruzzi (Bernadette Ceruzzi) of Southport, CT and Terese Ceruzzi, wife of Lou Jr. of Southport, CT her cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle, James, Kristina, Dr Jessica, Michael, Robert and Alissa and her great grandchildren, Jackson, Blake, Isaac, Amelia, Tyler, Sophie, John Lawrence, and Caroline Grace.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday November 13 from 10:30 – 11:30am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church 81 Center Rd. Woodbridge, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Capuchin Franciscans of the Province of St Mary, Yonkers, New York, ( http://www.capuchin.org ) or charity of one's choice.
