Louis G. Palumbo Jr. 97, of Hamden died peacefully at Yale N.H Hospital Jan. 5th after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Lorraine Letize Palumbo. Louis was born in New Haven son of the late Louis & Louise (Lizzie) Sirico Palumbo, and was an Army veteran. In his younger years, he worked as a butcher in many local Italian specialty markets, most notably Milano's. Later in his career, he was a food inspector for the State of Connecticut. He enjoyed gardening & woodworking and loved to cook, hosting many family Sunday gatherings. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons; Louis (Bernadette) Palumbo of Branford, and Mark (Angela) Palumbo of Hamden, grandchildren; Alicia (Matthew) Malakoff of N.Y., Brandon (Ashley) Palumbo of Cheshire, great grandchildren; Shane, Tyler, Graham & Camille, and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by brothers Edmund (Chick) & Donald Palumbo. Friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church TUESDAY at 10 am for a Mass of Christian burial. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
