Louis P. Melillo, 85, of 985 Wintergreen Ave., Hamden, died Aug. 23, 2010 in the Arden House. He was the husband of Margaret Barrett Melillo. Lou was born in Hamden, Nov. 9, 1924, the son of the late Angelo & Rosina Rienzo Melillo and was a landscaper and a nurseryman, operating Springside Garden for over 50 years. He was a member of the N.H. Bird Club, Mushroom Club, Ct. Groundskeeper Ass'n., Ct. Nutgrowers Ass'n., the Mycological Ass'n. and the West Rock Ridge Park Ass'n.and was an Army Veteran of WWII Beside his wife, he is survived by daughters, Paula R. Melillo and Mrs. William (Jeanne) Folsom and a son Louis A. Melillo, all of Hamden and a grandson, James Folsom. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Dominic, Pasquale, Frank and John Melillo. Funeral Friday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.
