Lois Pauline Toffolon Russo, 83, of 23 East Clover Circle, Hamden, CT died on 25 May 2011 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Lois was the true love of the late Lawrence W. Russo. They were a unique couple, where the strength of one, balanced the weakness of the other. Their home was their haven, while they enjoyed their trips, there was no place like home. Lois was the daughter of the late Agnes Bighinatti Toffolon (Berlin, CT) and Robert Toffolon (Meriden, CT) and was born in New Haven on December 27, 1927. She leaves two daughters Debra Coassin Mucha (Edward A) and Donna Cuomo (Joseph M) of Hamden and one sister Shirley Acampora of Florida. She leaves four grandchildren Audra Coassin Estes (Nathan), Alexander Coassin (Christine), Stephanie Cuomo and Joseph L. Cuomo as well as five great grandsons, Justin, Sebastian, Preston and Parker Estes and Jace Coassin. She also leaves her friend and companion "Beanie", a toy fox terrier. Lois always was a wife and mother first, and then a teller at American National Bank (TD Banknorth) and New Haven Savings Bank (Dixwell Avenue & Mt. Carmel Branch) for 26 years. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Women's Auxiliary, Hamden Women's Club, a volunteer at the Columbus House, New Haven, Hospice in Branford (old & new buildings) and Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven. Along with volunteering, she also had many hobbies. Among her favorites was spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Most of her projects were done for family members and charity organizations. Her devotion to her family was wholehearted. She gave gifts of time, comfort and effort, to all of her family, as needed. She never tired. She will be greatly missed! Mass Friday, 11:30 at Blessed Sacrament church, Burial all saints cemetery. Friends may call Friday morning from 8:45 - 10:45 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lois' name to CurePSP, 30 E. Padonia Road, Suite 201 Timonium, MD 21093 or go to www.curepsp.org.
