Lawrence Joseph Mercugliano, Sr. Passed away at his home in Hamden on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the age of 98 after a brief illness. He was born in New Haven on October 18, 1923 son of the late Domenic & Antoinette Pacelle Mercugliano. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Elia Mercugliano of Hamden, his children, Marianne Mercugliano Glanzman (Allan) and Lawrence Mercugliano, Jr. (Donna), and his grandchildren, David and Jason Glanzman. Larry Sr. was an independent plumbing, heating, and air conditioning contractor who worked into his 90's and was beloved by his customers.  He was active in the Knight of Columbus, singing in their men's chorus for many years. He was a pillar of his church, the Church of the Ascension parish in Hamden, where he served since it's founding in many different capacities. He was awarded the Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation for his service. He was pre-deceased by his brother Joseph Mercugliano, and his sisters Marguerite Mercugliano Coughlin and Rose Lois Mercugliano. Friends are invited to go directly to Church of the Ascension SATURDAY at 10 A.M. for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will follow in All Saints cemetery.
