Katherine Elia Mercugliano passed away at her home in Hamden on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a long illness. She was born in New Britain, CT on March 17, 1928, daughter of the late David and Miriam Sargis Elia. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 69 years, Lawrence Joseph Mercugliano, Sr., and her sisters, Nancy Main and Eva Elia.  She is survived by her children, Marianne Mercugliano Glanzman (Allan) and Lawrence Mercugliano, Jr. (Donna), and her grandchildren, David and Jason Glanzman. "Kitty" was trained as an R.N. at Grace New Haven Hospital.  She worked at Grace/Yale-New Haven Hospitals for her entire career, first on a variety of medical and surgical inpatient units, and later in the Ophthalmology Clinic. She was an extraordinarily devoted nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Services will be held SATURDAY at 10 A.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H., 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 - 10 A.M. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
