Jozef Ivan was born in Trstene pri Hornade, Slovakia on March 30,1950. He passed away July 28, 2016 at age 66 from sudden health complications. He was the youngest of six and only son of parents Juraj and Alzbeta Ivan. He attended college in Europe and received a Forestry degree. He left home in 1968 as a soldier fleeing soviet invasion, and arrived in the U.S. shortly after. He then married Iris Kinder and had two daugters Maggie and Lana Ivan of whom he solely raised. He owned his own landscaping company for over 25 years and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a proud, hardworking father who will be eternally loved.

He is survived by daughters Magdalena(Christopher)Guarnieri, Lana Ivanova, and Melody Wnuk. Grandchildren - Lily and Nala Ramadanovic, Joseph Guarnieri, and Julia and Allison Wnuk. Sisters -Alzbeta Karalyosova, Helena Uporska, and Magdalena Selepska. He is predeceased by parents Juraj and Alzbeta Ivan and sisters Katarina Temesova and Maria Karajosova.

Friends are invited to a funeral service which will be held on Tuesday August 2, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home -1022 Dixwell Ave. Hamden, Ct. 06514. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery - 247 Washington Ave. Hamden, Ct. 06518.
