Josephine Menta Apuzzo, 97, of Noble St., Hamden, died at Talmadge Park, April 19, 2014, surrounded by her devoted family. She was the widower of Mario S. Apuzzo. Josephine was born in New Haven March 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina Caso Menta and was originally from the Wooster St. area, residing in Hamden the last 60 years. She was a hairdresser at the former Margaret's Beauty Shop and also worked in Sero Shirt Co., prior to retiring. An avid UConn Womens Basketball and Yankee fan, she enjoyed gardening and was always more concerned about other people than herself. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Angela) Riccio of Wallingford, sons, Gerald (Theresa) Apuzzo of Wallingford and Mario (Deborah) Apuzzo of East Haven, sister of Ann Palmucci of West Haven and Ralph Menta of Westerly, RI. and the late George, Billy and Frank Menta. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10.
