Joseph E. Vernucci, 83, of Hamden, died May 28, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Mary DellaCamera Vernucci. Joe was born in Hamden, Aug. 9, 1927, the son of the late Nicole and Mildred Ferraro Vernucci and was employed at Wincester-Olin Corp for 23 years and then 23 years as a electrical custodian at Southern Conn. State Univ. prior to retirement. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, an avid bowler, a devoted grandfather, and enyoyed traveling with his wife. Beside his wife, he is survived by daughters, Mrs. David (Diane) Insalaco of Gulf Port, MS, Mrs. Brian (Nancy) Dobbs, of Trumbull and Mrs. David (MaryJo) Dynan of East Haven, a sister, Camille Orr of Oakland, CA. grandchildren, David & Jennifer Insalaco, Meghan & Patrick Dobbs and Ashley & Christopher Dynan and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by siblings Carmel Casanova, Mary Ruggiero, Philomena Giovanelly, Doris Ciravolo, Salvatore Ferraro, Anthony & Nicholas Vernucci. Funeral Wednesday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Joan of Arc Chuirch at 10 o'clock. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
