It is with heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of their beloved Joseph A. Sette, Jr., 81, of Hamden, who died July 25, 2015 at The Smilow Cancer Center. He was the devoted husband of Elena Graziano Sette. Joe was born in Hamden, July 13, 1934, son of the late Joseph and Marie Santoro Sette and was a lifelong Hamden resident. He graduated from Hamden High in 1953 where he was tri-captain of the football team. Upon graduation, he served in the US Army, during the Korean war and on his return, started his career as a bricklayer, being a member of the International Bricklayers Union, Local #1, for 50 years, ending as Director of the Apprenticeship Program. He was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Prihillian Club of No. Haven. Joe was a humble and generous man always willing to help out in many church and community projects. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Loved by all, he will be dearly missed. Beside his wife, Joe is survived by his loving children, Col US Army,ret. Joseph Sette and his wife Dr. Alice of Dothan, Ala., Linda Sette-Hines of Coppers Cove, TX, Susan O'Neill and her husband Dan of North Haven and Sr. Chief US Navy, ret. Mark Sette and his wife Beth of Smyrna, GA. a brother, Fred (Barbara) Sette of Hamden, grandchildren, Joey, Sagan, Rebecca, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Alexandria, Bryan, and Courtney and 7 great-grandchildren. He was the brother-in-law of Rose Fioretti, Marie Ferrigno, and Lorraine(Don) Fioretti. He was pre-deceased by his brother, James V. Sette and sister-in-law Rita Velleca. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in Centerville Cemetery.
