Joseph Matteo, Jr., 82, of 760 Mix Ave., Hamden, died suddenly at home, Sept. 17, 2015. He was the husband of the late Marlene DeMaio DeMatteo. Joe was born in East Haven, Sept. 14, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Helen D'Onofrio Matteo and resided in Hamden most of his life. He was a truck driver for many companies, the latest being C & M Paving and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, local 443. He enjoyed being outside and enjoyed walking, bicycling, tennis, racket ball but most of all being with his family. He is survived by his devoted children, Matilda Jason, Debra Matteo and Renee (Richard) Vitello, all of Hamden and Joseph (Vicki) Matteo of Palm City, FL. a brother Louis "Sonny" (Ann) Matteo of Hamden, grandchildren, Alexandra Vitello, John, Joseph, Melayna, Justin & Francesca Matteo, Christopher(Yazmin) Jason and Jennifer (Ken) Sweeten and 5 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by sisters, Phyllis Pinsonneault and Florence Matteo. Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 A.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning, from 9 to 11 A.M.
