Joseph Cordano, 93, of 25 Stone Ridge Lane, Branford, formerly of Hamden and East Haven, died Jan. 19, 2012 at St. Raphael's Hospital. He was the husband of Rose Merola Cordano. Joe was born in Woodbridge, Sept. 22, 1918, the son of the late Mario and Giovanina Messaro Cordano and was employed at Atlantic Wire, of Branford for over 30 years, retiring 30 years ago. He was an active parishoneer of Our Lady of Pompei, while living in East Haven and was involved with the carnival committee. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. Beside his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jean Cordano of East Haven, sons, Mario T. Cordano, of SC. and Joseph Cordano, Jr. of Scotland, CT, grandchildren, David and Jason Gay and Jonathan and Michele Cordano and 5 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by siblings, Rose Vitale, Florence Landino, Daisy Bonessi, Catherine Granata, Carmel Milano, James and Charles Landino. Friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Pompei Church, Monday, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. and may call Sunday at the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeal Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, from 2 to 5 P.M. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
