Joseph Mario Brandi, 78, of Hamden, died June 11, 2010 at St. Raphael's Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara Manfredi Brandi. Joe was born in New Haven, Feb. 8, 1932, the son of the late Aniello & Carmel Migliaro Brandi and founded the Brandi Meat Market in 1978 which he operated until 1991. Active in Hamden politics for over 50 years, he was Vice-Chariman of the Hamden Democratic Town Committee, The Zoning Board of Appeals and was a Hamden Police Commissioner. He played baseball in his youth and was an avid Red Sox fan. The family would like to thank the Drs. and staff at St. Raphael Hospital SICU, for their compassion and care. Beside his wife, Joe is survived by sons, Joseph Brandi Jr. of West Haven, Fred (Rosemary) Brandi, Dino (Anna) Brandi, John (Brenda) Brandi and Michael (Eileen) Brandi, all of Hamden, grandchildren Jamie, Steven, John, Nicole, Michael, Nina, Vincent and Caitlin, and a brother Armand (Rosalyn) Brandi of Hamden. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Frederick and a grandchild, Joseph. Funeral Monday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in all Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday for 3 to 7 P.M.
