John L. Lupi, 82, of Hamden, died at Conn Hospice on Feb 17, 2018. John was born in New Haven, June 24. 1935, the son of the late Peter and Louise Gaetano Lupi and resided in Hamden all his life. He owned and operated Lupi's Bakery of Hamden, a family business established in 1900, together with his family, until his retirement in 1997. An avid golfer, he was a member of Laurel View Golf Ass'n, as well as Oronoque CC and Woodbridge CC. He enjoyed skiing in VT., hunting with his sons, and spending time with friends at his favorite golf hole, the 19th. He was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle and a friend to all. He is survived by his sons, William M (Nancy) Lupi of Branford, John L. Lupi (Michael Cavallaro) of Oakland Park, FL and Lawrence (Melissa) Lupi of Killingworth, a brother, William E. Lupi and a sister, Teresa Lupi, both of Hamden, grandchildren, Jenna L. Lupi, William A. Lupi, Carole L. Lupi and Leonardo V. Lupi and a sister in law Lorraine Lupi of Hamden. He was pre-deceased by siblings, Rudolph and Peter Lupi and Constance Capasso. Funeral Wednesday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
