John Fray Craven, 93, a longtime Hamden resident died peacefully at home December 31, 2024. He was the loving husband of 73 years to Elvira DiMeo Craven. Born in West Haven, son of the late James and Annetta Fray Craven, John worked as a milkman for Knudson Dairy for 24 years and as a Purolator Courier for 14 years. He went on to become owner/ operator of JC Courier from 1989 - 1996. He was an avid fisherman, and a proud Navy veteran (1949 - 1953) of the Korean war. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons John (Donna) Craven of Florida, and David (Sherry) Craven of Georgia, daughters Patricia (Tony) Giampapa of Portland, and Carol (Joseph) Bartozzi of Woodbridge, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by brothers Robert, Richard, and Croft Craven. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
