John Carusone, 88, of Hamden, died July 1, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gelma Toce Carusone. John was born in New Haven, June 22, 1929, the son of the late Peter and Marianna Caso Carusone and resided in Hamden most of his life. He was a route drive for Tip Top Bread Co for 32 years and then owned and operated John's Grocery Plus, on Blake St. New Haven for 8 years, prior to retiring. He was an active communicant at St. Ann's Church for 70 years and enjoying traveling and trips  to the casino. Beside his wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Teresa Giglietti, Rose Springer, Frank and Joseph Carusone. Funeral Friday at 9:30 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Christ the Bread of Life Church (Blessed Sacrament) at 10 o'clock. Friends may call Friday morning from 8 to 9:30. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Soup Kitchen, 930 Dixwell Ave. Hamden in loving memory of John.
