Obituary
Joanne C. Viola, 71, of Southern Pines, NC ,
passed away on
Dec. 8, 2016
at St. Joseph of The Pines in Southern Pines, NC
after a long battle with Alzheimer's
disease. Joanne formerly lived in Niantic and Trumbull, CT.
Born in Hamden CT. on Dec. 21, 1944, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Anthony W. Viola , their
two children, Richard Viola and his wife Tamara, and Steven Viola and his wife Karen. Two grand-children, Alison and Kyle Viola. She is also survived by her brother Robert
Johnson and his wife Joan, as well as several nephews and a
niece.
Joanne graduated from Quinnipiac University and held several administrative positions before retiring. After retiring, she and her husband traveled throughout the United States and Europe.
Joanne loved to golf,
play the piano and would spend endless hours working on her various needlepoint projects. She loved to cook and bake and took great pleasure in hosting family get togethers.
The family would like to thank everyone at Crescent Point in Niantic, CT for the wonderful care she received for several years and most recently the staff at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines, NC.
In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to the CT Chapter of The Alzheimer's Association. Calling hours are from 8:00-9:30 AM on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2016
at the Peter H. Torello and Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave, Hamden CT, 06514, and
a funeral mass will follow
at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden, CT at
10
AM.
Burial in Beaverdale Cemetery.
